About LMX files
The .LMX file extension primarily represents a Landmark Exchange file, an XML-based format developed by Nokia Corporation to store and share Point of Interest (POI) location data (like coordinates, names, and descriptions) across older Symbian mobile devices. Alternatively, .LMX is used as a GoldMine Local Memo file by the GoldMine CRM software system to store localized user notes. A third, less common application is as a 3D printing format associated with Autodesk Netfabb. You need to convert .LMX files because the original Nokia ecosystem is completely defunct. Modern mapping tools like Google Earth or modern Garmin devices do not natively support .LMX imports. For mapping data, your best target conversion formats are GPX or KML, which are universally accepted by modern GIS systems. Note that while coordinates and names will transfer perfectly to these formats, proprietary Nokia device icons and metadata might be lost. If you are dealing with a GoldMine Memo, converting to TXT or PDF is essential to read the notes outside the proprietary CRM environment.
