The .life file extension is primarily a proprietary data archive created by Light Notebook, a discontinued digital journaling and time capsule application. A secondary, but historically significant use of the extension is as a plain-text grid pattern file for Conway's Game of Life.
Because Light Notebook is permanently discontinued, users are frequently locked out of their personal diaries, photos, and notes stored in these binary archives.
