Convert JNB to another file type
To convert JNB notebooks to another format, you need SigmaPlot or other Data software.
Convert a file to JNB
To convert other file formats to the "Scientific Graphing Notebook" file type, you need software like SigmaPlot or a similar tool.
About JNB files
The .JNB file format is a proprietary SigmaPlot Notebook created by Systat Software. It stores scientific datasets, 2D/3D graphs, statistical reports, and macros in a single workspace. Internally, it relies on the Microsoft Compound (OLE Structured Storage) file structure. This format is closed and highly specialized. You cannot open .JNB files in standard web browsers or spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel. Accessing the raw data requires an expensive, active license for SigmaPlot. Because it is proprietary, most third-party tools and standard online converters fail to parse the embedded graphs and statistical models. To share the data or graphs, users must convert the file. The best targets for data are standard CSV or XLSX files. For the graphs, exporting to PDF, SVG, or PNG is recommended. However, exporting complex 3D regression models to flat vector formats often results in a loss of interactive data points. Because this file format is difficult to open or convert externally, often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JNB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert JNB file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use SigmaPlot or similar software from the "Scientific graphing and data storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to JNB, try SigmaPlot or another comparable tool in the "Scientific graphing and data storage" category.
The JNB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JNB converter.
