Convert LI to another file type
To convert LI Layout snapshots to another format, you need Android Studio or other Developer software.
Convert a file to LI
To convert other file formats to the "App UI Debug Snapshot" file type, you need software like Android Studio or a similar tool.
About LI files
The .LI file extension primarily represents two very different data types: an Android Layout Inspector snapshot or a Lordicon animated icon. Android developers use .LI files in Android Studio to capture the exact state of an application's UI hierarchy for debugging purposes. These files are proprietary, Java-based memory dumps that cannot be opened in standard text editors or web browsers. Alternatively, web designers use .LI files downloaded from Lordicon, which contain animated vector graphics packaged in a custom format.
Users often need to convert .LI files because they are highly restrictive and closed-ecosystem formats. Android Studio snapshots are completely useless outside the IDE and cannot be easily shared with non-developers, clients, or product managers. Lordicon files require specific web players or integrations to render properly, preventing native use in basic video editors or presentation software.
For Android snapshots, converting the structural data to XML or capturing the visual layout as a PNG image is much more practical for sharing. For Lordicon files, converting them to standard GIF, MP4, or JSON (Lottie) formats ensures universal compatibility across all platforms, though you may lose interactive trigger features (like hover-to-play).
These formats are notoriously difficult to process. Android .LI files are closed binary dumps, meaning only the original software can properly read or export the data. Standard online converters fail because they lack the specific Java runtime environment. However, just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible on convert.guru. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as a misnamed PDF or standard JSON animation data - viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LI file to KM, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT or DB, you can use Android Studio or similar software from the "UI Debugging & Animated Icons" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to LI, try Android Studio or another comparable tool in the "UI Debugging & Animated Icons" category.
The LI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LI converter.
