About LFL files

The .LFL file extension is a highly fragmented format used by several completely unrelated software applications. It is most commonly encountered as a dongle license data file for Seequent Leapfrog software, a drive automation project file for Lenze L-force Engineer, or a legacy Library for Functions in Lotus 1-2-3. It is also associated with old video games like Lego Island and Lego Loco as save or level data files, and as a compressed data format on classic Amiga systems.

Because this extension is shared across so many platforms, users face a major challenge: identifying which program actually created the file. The disadvantages of the .LFL format are severe. Most variants are closed, proprietary binary files. A Leapfrog license file is hardware-locked system data that cannot be opened or read manually. Legacy Lotus 1-2-3 and Amiga files are largely obsolete and unsupported by modern operating systems.

Standard online converters fail to process .LFL files because they lack a universal structure. If you attempt to convert a license or game save to a document format like PDF or DOCX, the conversion will fail because the file contains machine code, not printable text or images. However, the Lenze L-force Engineer variant is actually based on the standard ZIP compression format. In this specific case, the file contains project assets that can be easily extracted.

Since this file format is difficult to open or convert, and often only the original software can properly read or export the data, you need a specialized tool to analyze it. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LFL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CMG, ALO and VSF files.
