About LBS files
The .LBS extension primarily identifies an Omnis Studio Library, a proprietary container used by Omnis Studio for building cross-platform enterprise applications. These files are the backbone of Omnis projects, acting as binary repositories that store application logic, including window classes, file classes, methods, and interface resources.
For developers and IT administrators, the main challenge with .LBS files is their binary nature, which locks source code inside a format that standard text editors or version control systems (like Git) cannot natively read or diff. While older versions of Omnis kept this data strictly locked, modern workflows often require converting these binary libraries into human-readable formats for archiving or migration. The most effective conversion path is to use the Omnis Studio IDE to export the library content to JSON or Text files. In rarer contexts (approx. 9% of cases), an .LBS file may be a CAD symbol library used by engineering software like El-Project or Libra Elektronika LBS Creator to store vector drawing layers or label templates. If your file does not open in Omnis Studio, it is likely a legacy CAD asset requiring specific engineering tools to view.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LBS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LBS file to JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO, RS or SWIFT, you can use Omnis_Studio or similar software from the "Application Logic Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The LBS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LBS converter.
