Convert a file to LAW
To convert other file formats to the "Logic Analyzer Data" file type, you need software like LaViewer or a similar tool.
About LAW files
A .LAW file primarily functions as a Logic Analyzer Waveform data file. These files store digital signal data captured by hardware logic analyzers manufactured by Acute Technology Inc.. Engineers use them to diagnose and debug electronic circuits. Alternatively, a .LAW file can be a serialized NumPy array data file in Python (specifically standing for a Labelled Array of Words) or a legacy legal document form created by outdated software like Matthew Bender Law Office Express.
The primary disadvantage of the waveform .LAW format is its proprietary nature. It locks your hardware diagnostic data into a specific vendor ecosystem. You cannot natively open it in web browsers, standard text editors, or universal spreadsheet tools without exporting it first. The legacy legal .LAW files present a different challenge: they require outdated, unsupported software to open, creating severe compatibility bottlenecks on modern operating systems.
When working with logic analyzer data, converting the file to CSV or TXT is the standard workaround. This allows you to import the waveform data into Microsoft Excel or custom Python scripts for independent analysis. For legacy legal files, extracting the text to PDF or DOCX is necessary to maintain long-term readability.
Because .LAW files are either highly specific hardware containers or obsolete document formats, standard online converters often fail to process them. Drag and drop your file to convert.guru to identify the exact format and inspect its internal contents. If our analysis detects underlying text or exportable data grids, viewing or converting the file may still be possible without the original software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LAW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LAW file to TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, PAGES, TEX, LATEX, MD, MARKDOWN, LOG or NFO, you can use LaViewer or similar software from the "Hardware Waveform Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert PDF, DOC, ASC, TODO, NFO, MEMO, README, DOCX, JPG, TXT, NOTE or RTF files to LAW, try LaViewer or another comparable tool in the "Hardware Waveform Data Storage" category.
The LAW Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LAW converter.
