The .krx file is a specialized electronic document container utilized primarily by the Hungarian e-Papír service. It serves as a secure envelope for transmitting authenticated files between citizens, businesses, and government agencies in Hungary. The major disadvantage of a .krx file is its extreme localization. Outside of the Hungarian government infrastructure, standard document viewers and operating systems do not recognize it.
