About KNT files

A .KNT file is a notebook project created by KeyNote (classic) or KeyNote NF (New Features), a tabbed personal information manager for Windows. Unlike standard text files, a .KNT acts as a structured container that stores a hierarchy of notes, rich text formatting, and even encrypted nodes using the Blowfish algorithm. Crucial Distinction: Users frequently confuse this format with Apple's presentation software; however, Apple Keynote exclusively uses the KEY extension. Practical friction arises because .KNT files are proprietary to the Windows-only KeyNote software, which is now considered legacy. You cannot open them in Microsoft Word, Evernote, or web browsers without conversion. This creates a "digital silo" where your organized data is trapped in an outdated format. To migrate your data, the best target formats are RTF (Rich Text Format) to preserve bolding, fonts, and colors for editing in Word; TXT for a universal, future-proof plain text backup; or PDF for a read-only archive that maintains the visual layout of your notes.

Convert.Guru analyzes your KNT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted KEY, KS-IG and KTH files.
