About KDZ files
The .KDZ file format is a proprietary firmware container developed by LG Electronics for their Android smartphones and tablets. These files are the lifeline for devices stuck in a "bootloop" or soft-bricked state, containing the complete stock operating system, radio, and bootloader images.
However, working with .KDZ files is often frustrating because they are encrypted containers that standard archive tools like 7-Zip cannot handle directly. They are specifically designed to be read only by authorized service tools like LGUP or the LG Flash Tool. Users frequently need to convert - or more accurately, extract - these files into a standard ZIP or raw partition images (like IMG) to gain access to the boot.img for rooting purposes or to flash individual components via Fastboot.
Convert.Guru analyzes your KDZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert KDZ file to ZIP, XML, TOT, SYS, DLL, EXE, DRV, VXD, 386, COM, BAT or CMD, you can use LGUP Tool or similar software from the "LG Android Firmware Update" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MSI, EXE, REG, MST, LNK, CAB, CAT, DRV, INF, SYS, MSU or DLL files to KDZ, try LGUP Tool or another comparable tool in the "LG Android Firmware Update" category.
The KDZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KDZ converter.
