About JPH files
The .JPH file extension represents a High Throughput JPEG 2000 (HTJ2K) image. Unlike the standard JP2 format, which prioritizes compression efficiency at the cost of computational speed, the .JPH format (defined in ISO/IEC 15444-15) utilizes a simplified block coding algorithm to achieve significantly faster encoding and decoding speeds. While this makes it ideal for handling massive geospatial maps, medical imaging, and high-resolution video archiving where throughput is critical, it is often frustrating for general users. Most standard image viewers, web browsers, and operating systems (like Windows or macOS) do not natively render .JPH files, often resulting in "File format not supported" errors. To view these images without specialized commercial software like the Kakadu Software SDK, the most pragmatic solution is converting them to universally compatible formats. For web use and quick sharing, convert .JPH to JPG or WebP. For graphic design and editing where transparency or higher fidelity is needed, convert to PNG or TIFF. For archiving documents derived from these scans, PDF remains the standard.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JPH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted PNG, JPG, JPT, DEBUG and VAL files.

The JPH Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JPH converter.
