About ITX files

The .ITX file format primarily serves two distinct purposes: it is either an Iridas Image Transform File used as a Color Look-Up Table (LUT), or an Igor Pro Text Data file used for scientific analysis. Iridas .ITX files store 3D color grading coordinates to apply specific cinematic looks to photos and videos. Igor Pro .ITX files store plain text numeric data arrays for generating complex scientific graphs.

To open or edit these files, you need specialized software. Iridas LUTs are traditionally processed by Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic and legacy Adobe SpeedGrade. Igor Pro text data files are designed exclusively for WaveMetrics Igor Pro. Other minority uses include XML-based document composition templates for Infinica and structured finance cashflow data files for Intex Solutions.

The main disadvantage of the .ITX format is its strict software dependency. Iridas LUTs are proprietary and often fail to load in modern video editors, which strongly prefer standard 3D LUT formats. Igor Pro data files use a unique array structure instead of standard delimiters; attempting to import them into basic spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel often results in broken formatting and misaligned data columns.

For color grading, converting an Iridas .ITX file to CUBE or 3DL is the best approach to ensure compatibility across all major video editing suites, though slight color space shifts may occasionally occur during matrix translation. For data analysis, converting Igor Pro .ITX files to CSV or standard TXT makes the raw numeric data universally accessible, though you will inevitably lose the specific graphing parameters and visual layouts.

Because these files contain either proprietary color matrices or application-specific numeric arrays, standard online converters usually fail to parse them correctly. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible on convert.guru. If our analysis detects a supported underlying text or embedded XML structure, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ITX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted LUT, TXT, CUBE, PDF, VLD, PLAB and TFT files.

FAQ

If you want to convert ITX file to CUBE, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT or DB, you can use Adobe Lightroom Classic or similar software from the "Color Grading & Data Analysis" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to ITX, try Adobe Lightroom Classic or another comparable tool in the "Color Grading & Data Analysis" category.

The ITX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ITX converter.
