About ITX files

The .ITX extension represents a frustrating collision of two distinct professional worlds: legacy color grading and scientific data analysis. Most frequently, users encounter this file as an Iridas Look-Up Table (LUT) or Image Transform File, a format originally developed by Iridas (technology later acquired by Adobe for SpeedGrade). While these files contain precise color mapping data, they are effectively obsolete in modern post-production workflows. Major non-linear editors like DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro standardize on CUBE or 3DL files. Using an .ITX LUT today often requires converting it to a standard 3D LUT format to avoid compatibility errors or the need for discontinued software.

Alternatively, an .ITX file may be a text-based data file created by WaveMetrics Igor Pro, a powerful graphing and analysis tool used in scientific research. While these files are technically plain text, the proprietary formatting makes them difficult to parse in standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel without manual cleanup or import wizards. Users without an expensive Igor Pro license often find themselves locked out of their own research data. For financial professionals, a distinct variation exists as Intex structured cashflow data. To make any of these files usable, the most pragmatic solution is converting LUTs to CUBE for video work, and converting data files to CSV, XLSX, or PDF for universal accessibility.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ITX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted LUT, TXT, CUBE, PDF, VLD, PLAB and TFT files.

The ITX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ITX converter.
