About IT3 files

The .it3 file extension is primarily associated with three distinct formats: a 3D model or game engine layout file used by FromSoftware Inc, an Engineering Equation Solver (EES) project file, and an I-deas Test Data File for Siemens. The FromSoftware variant contains proprietary 3D geometry and layout data used in their custom game engines. The EES variant stores complex engineering projects, but it is actually a standard ZIP archive under the hood. Finally, the Siemens I-deas format holds legacy 3D test data. These files present significant disadvantages for average users. FromSoftware .it3 files are highly proprietary, undocumented, and impossible to open in standard 3D software without community-built modding tools. EES files require an active, expensive commercial license to open natively. Siemens I-deas is largely obsolete, replaced by modern Siemens NX. Because these are proprietary or legacy formats, standard online converters fail completely. You cannot simply convert a FromSoftware .it3 to an OBJ or FBX without specialized unpacking scripts.
