About IMJ files

The .imj file extension is primarily a TIFF-based raster image, often generated or processed by photography workflows associated with Iridient Digital. While the internal data structure mirrors the industry-standard Tagged Image File Format (TIFF), the obscure .imj extension acts as a compatibility barrier. Standard operating system tools like Windows Photos or macOS Preview often fail to recognize the extension, effectively locking you out of your own high-quality image data.

Users typically encounter these files in older digital archives or specific imaging pipelines where the file was saved with a non-standard suffix to denote specific processing settings. The practical friction here is high: you cannot upload an .imj file to the web, attach it to standard emails (where it may be blocked as unknown), or view it on mobile devices. Furthermore, because these are TIFF-based, the file sizes are often significantly larger than modern formats like HEIC or WebP. For archiving or further editing in software like Adobe Photoshop, convert to standard TIFF to ensure zero quality loss. For easy sharing, email, or web display, convert to JPG or PNG. In rare cases (roughly 0.9%), an .imj file may be a legacy JFIF Bitmap from Pegasus Imaging; our converter handles these variations automatically.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IMJ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted JPEG, HEIC, JPG, 4TH, IDENTIFIER and USP files.
