Extract text from IDD files

The .idd extension is a classic example of file format collision, serving three distinct, unrelated industries. Most commonly, it is a Honda IDDAS file, containing proprietary diagnostic data for Honda vehicles. These files are generated by the Honda Interface Module and are used by mechanics to analyze engine performance, sensor logs, and ECU states. They are binary and encrypted, making them impossible to open without authorized OEM software.
A secondary but significant use is in IDCard Designer software (often associated with DRPU or similar badge-making tools). Here, the file stores the layout, photos, and vector graphics for employee badges or membership cards. Users often get stuck with these files when switching badge printers or losing the original software license.
Finally, in the industrial sector, .idd files serve as configuration templates for Fluid Management (Nordson) paint dispensers. These text-based files tell the machine how to mix pigments (e.g., canister positions and ingredient names).
Practical Constraint: If you cannot open your file, you are likely facing a "soft lock" - you have the data (the file) but not the key (the software). Additionally, many users confuse this extension with Adobe InDesign (.INDD). If your file is a brochure or magazine layout, it is almost certainly a typo; try renaming the extension to indd.
