About IAS files

The .ias file extension represents a unique intersection of academic research and specialized engineering, primarily serving as a Scene Text Annotation Data file. These files are generated for use with ICDAR (International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition) datasets, containing coordinate and text data used to train Optical Character Recognition (OCR) models. A secondary but critical use case is the Intermodulation Analysis System file created by Professional Wireless Systems. This format stores frequency coordination data used by RF engineers to manage wireless spectrums at large events.

The biggest obstacle for .ias files is their opacity; they are often raw data files that cannot be opened by standard text editors or image viewers. Users working with the ICDAR variant typically need to convert these annotations into standard machine-learning friendly formats like COCO JSON, Pascal VOC XML, or plain TXT to feed into training pipelines (e.g., TensorFlow or PyTorch). Conversely, RF engineers carrying Intermodulation Analysis System files often struggle to share their frequency plans with clients who lack the expensive proprietary software. In these cases, converting the data to CSV (for Excel) or PDF (for reporting) is the standard workflow to ensure accessibility.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IAS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted LAS, ZIP, NCS, APPLESCRIPT, BHS, TAS, CAS, GS and EAS files.

The IAS Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IAS converter.
