About IAS files
A .IAS file generally serves as an image annotation data file. It is most heavily used in computer vision to store bounding box and text content information for scene text recognition, specifically within ICDAR (International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition) machine learning datasets. Alternatively, it stores subtitle image annotations used by the open-source software Subtitle Edit. A secondary, rarer use case is the Intermodulation Analysis System file, developed by Professional Wireless Systems to manage radio frequency coordination for live audio productions.
The main problem with .IAS files is their highly specific and fragmented structural requirements. Scene text annotations often use niche plaintext formats that are not easily readable without custom Python parsing scripts. Subtitle image annotations require specialized optical character recognition (OCR) engines to process. RF coordination files are strictly proprietary. Standard online converters fail to process them because they lack the specific parsing logic to handle these completely disconnected use cases.
Users often need to convert .IAS annotation data into broader, standard formats like JSON, XML, or CSV to feed into modern machine learning pipelines (like YOLO or COCO). Subtitle users usually want to export to SRT. Just drag and drop your file to convert.guru to identify the format, view its raw text or internal content, and convert it if supported. Since RF data files are closed and proprietary, only the original Intermodulation Analysis System software can fully read and export the frequency sets, but our tool can still inspect the file structure to help you determine exactly what you are dealing with.
Convert.Guru analyzes your IAS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert IAS file to TAS, CAS, GS, EAS, OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA or MB, you can use Subtitle Edit or similar software from the "Scene Text Annotation Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to IAS, try Subtitle Edit or another comparable tool in the "Scene Text Annotation Data" category.
The IAS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IAS converter.
