Convert a file to HPR
To convert other file formats to the "Encrypted Image or Data" file type, you need software like Vaulty or XML Editors or a similar tool.
About HPR files
The .hpr file extension is heavily fragmented. It primarily acts as an encrypted image file generated by the Vaulty app for Android, designed to hide private photos from the device gallery. Alternatively, it serves as an XML-based Harvested Production data file used within the StanForD (Standard for Forestry Data and Communication) system, or as a medical messaging file under the French HPRIM healthcare standard.
To open Vaulty images, you must restore them within the original Vaulty app. StanForD files can be parsed by forestry management software like those from Trimble or standard XML editors.
The major disadvantage of an .hpr file is its proprietary or context-heavy nature. Vaulty files are deliberately encrypted, rendering them useless outside the app and inaccessible to standard image viewers. Medical and forestry .hpr files contain dense, raw structured data that is difficult to read without specialized parsing software.
Users often want to convert Vaulty .hpr files back to standard JPG or PNG formats. Forestry and medical data files are best converted to XML, CSV, or JSON for easier database integration and analysis.
Standard online converters fail with .hpr files because they lack the specific decryption keys for Vaulty or the schema definitions for niche industries. This format is notoriously difficult to process because only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects the underlying XML text or a partially unencrypted JPEG, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your HPR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert HPR file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use Vaulty or XML Editors or similar software from the "Encrypted Image or XML Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to HPR, try Vaulty or XML Editors or another comparable tool in the "Encrypted Image or XML Data" category.
The HPR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HPR converter.
