Extract text from CypCut backup files (HPM)

An .HPM file usually functions as a parameters backup file generated by Friendess CypCut, a widely used laser cutting control software. It archives essential machine configurations, calibration data, and cutting parameters. Less commonly, .HPM files act as hardware firmware updates following the PICMG HPM.1 standard, or as server firmware update packages for Huawei enterprise hardware. In the French medical sector, .HPM files are also used to store laboratory results using the HPRIM data exchange standard.
The primary disadvantage of the .HPM format is its highly specific, proprietary nature. A CypCut backup file is practically useless unless imported back into the original machinery or software. Firmware update packages are strictly intended for flashing specific server controllers and motherboards, while medical .HPM files require specialized healthcare database software to interpret. None of these formats are natively supported by standard operating systems or web browsers, leaving users unable to preview their contents without the exact target environment.
Because .HPM files contain proprietary machine code, firmware binaries, or specific medical markup, standard document converters completely fail to process them. You cannot easily convert these files into a standard PDF or image. However, the CypCut variant of the .HPM file is internally formatted as a standard ZIP archive. This means that extracting its internal data is often just a matter of identifying the underlying compression. Even when dealing with obscure, proprietary formats like an .HPM file, our tool can analyze the internal structure. If it detects the embedded ZIP signature of a CypCut backup, it will allow you to safely extract and inspect the internal XML or CFG configuration files without needing the original laser cutting software.
