About HID2 files
A .HID2 file is a "hidden" media asset generated by Android privacy applications, most notably Hide It Pro (often disguised as "Audio Manager"). These applications allow users to secure sensitive photos and videos behind a passcode, removing them from the device's standard gallery. To achieve this, the software obfuscates the original file - usually a standard JPG image or MP4 video - by renaming the extension and occasionally altering the file header to prevent detection by system scans.
The major drawback occurs when users manually back up their phone storage to a PC or attempt data recovery after an app crash. In this environment, .HID2 files are completely unreadable. Standard desktop software like Adobe Photoshop or VLC media player cannot open them because they do not recognize the extension or the obfuscated header structure. Users are often left with thousands of unintelligible files with no easy way to distinguish between a holiday photo and a large video file.
To restore access to your memories, these files must be converted back to their native formats. The ideal target format depends on the original content: convert to JPG or PNG for images to ensure compatibility with web browsers and photo viewers. For video content, converting to MP4 is the best path for playback on virtually all devices. Our tools analyze the underlying binary signature to determine the correct format and restore the file to a viewable state.
Convert.Guru analyzes your HID2 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted TLV, CDG and MOD files.
The HID2 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HID2 converter.
