About HC files
The .hc file is primarily an encrypted VPN configuration profile used by the HTTP Custom Android app, also known as an AIO Tunnel. Users rely on these files to import secure proxy, SSH, and VPN tunneling rules to bypass internet restrictions or secure their connection. Alternatively, a .hc file might be a VeraCrypt encrypted container developed by IDRIX, or a HolyC source code file created by Terry A. Davis for the TempleOS operating system. The main disadvantage of the HTTP Custom .hc format is its proprietary, heavily encrypted nature. These files are typically locked by the creator - often with passwords, expiration dates, or hardware ID binding - to prevent users from extracting the underlying payload, SSH credentials, or proxy lists. This makes the format virtually useless outside of its specific Android application. They cannot be easily opened in standard text editors or natively used on desktop platforms like Windows or macOS without virtualization. To overcome these strict limitations, users often attempt to extract the configuration data to standard formats. For generic VPN usage, convert the underlying details to OVPN (OpenVPN) or .WG (WireGuard) if you possess the decryption key.
