About GTA files
A .gta file is a Microsoft Groove Tool Archive. It was used by the discontinued Microsoft Groove collaboration platform (later known as SharePoint Workspace). These files store custom tools, templates, and data structures used to extend the functionality of peer-to-peer Groove workspaces. The format is entirely obsolete and deeply proprietary. Microsoft abandoned the Groove ecosystem over a decade ago. Opening a .gta file today requires finding, installing, and licensing legacy software on an older Windows operating system. It is not supported by any modern web browsers or standard unzipping tools. Direct conversion to standard formats like .ZIP or .XML is highly requested but natively difficult. Users primarily want to extract the underlying XML configuration data or embedded media. Standard online converters fail to process .gta files because they lack the specific Groove parsing libraries. This is a closed, proprietary format, which makes it difficult to open or convert. Often only the original legacy software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GTA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GTA file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Microsoft Office Groove or similar software from the "Collaboration Tool Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to GTA, try Microsoft Office Groove or another comparable tool in the "Collaboration Tool Archive" category.
The GTA Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GTA converter.
