The .gso file extension primarily acts as the storage container for GoldenSection Notes, a hierarchical personal information manager. These files function as proprietary databases, encapsulating your tree-structured notes, rich text formatting, and sometimes even password-protected information. The main issue with .gso files is their proprietary lock-in; they are not readable by standard text editors or modern note-taking apps like Microsoft OneNote or Evernote without the original software. These are binary assets compiled for the game engine and are generally not meant to be manually edited. Attempting to open these in a text editor will result in garbled data.
