About GRO files

A .GRO file is most commonly a game asset archive used by the Serious Engine, developed by Croteam for video games like Serious Sam and The Talos Principle. It packages 3D models, textures, level data, and audio into a single container. Secondary, obsolete uses for this extension include Hewlett-Packard Graphic Object Bitmaps and Allegro MIDI files.

The main problem with game archive .GRO files is that the custom extension prevents native operating system tools from recognizing them as readable directories.
