About GO files
A .GO file is a source code file written in the Go programming language, an open-source framework developed by Google. These files contain human-readable text instructions used by developers to build scalable applications, microservices, and cloud infrastructure. Developers write and edit them using IDEs like Visual Studio Code or GoLand.
The main disadvantage of sharing raw .GO files is that non-developers cannot read them comfortably. Opening them in basic text editors often breaks the strict indentation and code structure. Furthermore, unless you have the Go compiler installed, you cannot execute the file. Sometimes, legacy systems or utility providers erroneously append the .go extension to standard PDF or HTML files, causing operating system confusion.
For sharing code snippets or documentation, convert .GO to PDF to freeze formatting and preserve syntax highlighting. If you need a universally compatible text format, convert to TXT.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GO file to PYTHON, JAVA, GB, PDF, TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW or PART, you can use VS Code or similar software from the "Source code storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to GO, try VS Code or another comparable tool in the "Source code storage" category.
The GO Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GO converter.
