About GLT files
A .GLT file serves two entirely different purposes. It is either a proprietary 3D model texture data file for Nintendo games developed by Next Level Games, or a software license request file for Caterpillar Electronic Technician.
Both formats are highly restricted and present major disadvantages for regular users. Game texture .GLT files use custom compression designed exclusively for console hardware. They contain visual assets for games like Mario Golf: Super Rush or Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. Because they are proprietary, standard image viewers cannot read them. You cannot open them without complex community reverse-engineering tools. The Caterpillar variant is simply an encrypted text string used to verify expensive diagnostic software. It requires an active subscription and portal access to process.
Because .GLT is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. Gamers often want to convert these textures to standard PNG or DDS files for modding, but lack the tools. Caterpillar users must submit the file directly to the manufacturer's portal without changing a single byte.
Just drag and drop your .GLT file into convert.guru to identify the format, view its raw text or hex structure, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported embedded image format, viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GLT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GLT file to OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB, C4D, STL, PLY or WRL, you can use Caterpillar ET or similar software from the "Game Texture / License Request" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The GLT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GLT converter.
