About GLOX files
Myfile.GLOX files are proprietary Microsoft Office SmartArt Graphics Layouts, functioning essentially as add-ons to the standard diagram gallery in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Under the hood, a .GLOX is actually a ZIP-compressed package containing structured XML code and image assets that define how a specific diagram behaves and looks.
The main drawback for users is that .GLOX files are not standalone documents; you cannot double-click them to view the diagram. They effectively "fail" to open unless they are manually placed in a deep system directory (e.g., %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Templates\SmartArt Graphics) and accessed via the Office interface. This makes sharing custom organizational charts or process flows difficult, as the recipient cannot easily preview the file without installing it.
To overcome this opacity, the best approach is often treating the file as an archive. Converting .GLOX to ZIP allows users to unzip and extract the internal XML configuration files and PNG thumbnails. For documentation or web use, converting the layout definitions to standard images like JPG or PNG ensures the visual style is preserved without requiring Microsoft Office to be installed.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GLOX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GLOX file to SVG, AI, EPS, PDF, JPG, CDR, WMF, EMF, SWF, FLA, XFL or SKETCH, you can use Microsoft Office or similar software from the "SmartArt Graphic Layout" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The GLOX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GLOX converter.
