The .fr file extension is most commonly associated with FightCade Replay files used by the FightCade online gaming platform or the FB Alpha emulator. It records the exact sequence of player inputs during a fighting game match. Alternatively, .fr files represent Blink Saved Web Pages generated by Google Chrome, or Physics Model Definitions in the FeynRules package for Mathematica.
To open a FightCade replay, you must use the original emulator version. Blink web pages require a Chromium-based browser, while FeynRules files require Wolfram Mathematica. The primary disadvantage of a .fr replay file is that it is not a video file. It is extremely lightweight because it only contains controller inputs. This means you cannot directly upload a .fr file to YouTube or share it on social media. Furthermore, updates to the emulator can break replay compatibility. Blink web pages have similar isolation issues, often failing to render properly in non-Chromium browsers.
For sharing gameplay, the best conversion targets are MP4 or WebM. For Blink saved pages, standard HTML or PDF formats ensure maximum compatibility. Because .fr replays are proprietary input logs, standard online converters fail to process them. They do not contain pixel data to convert. You typically must play the file in the original software and use screen recording software to capture the video.
