About TTR files

A .TTR file is most frequently a game replay created by TETR.IO, a modern, competitive stacker game. These files store the raw data of a match - including the random seed, keystrokes, and timing - formatted as JSON. They are not video files, which causes significant friction for users attempting to upload gameplay directly to YouTube or view it in standard media players like VLC. Because the file contains instructions rather than pixel data, it requires the proprietary game engine to render the visuals. For sharing, the best workflow is to replay the file within the TETR.IO client and use screen recording software to convert the output to MP4 or WEBM.

Alternatively, a .TTR file may be a website theme exported by Themler. These are technically ZIP archives containing CMS templates for WordPress, Joomla, or Magento. Users often struggle to open these if the Themler software is not installed; however, they can usually be converted simply by renaming the extension from .TTR to ZIP, allowing immediate extraction of assets like CSS, PHP, and images.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TTR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TTF, TTRM, VMV and W3Z files.

The TTR Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TTR converter.
