The .fpg extension represents a diverse set of file formats, most commonly serving as a Game Graphics Library for the legacy DIV Games Studio and its modern open-source successor, the Fenix Project. In this context, the file acts as a container for multiple sprites, textures, and color palettes (similar to a sprite sheet but packaged differently). The catch for users is that modern image editors like Adobe Photoshop or GIMP do not natively support this format, locking valuable pixel art and retro game assets inside an obsolete container. To use these assets in modern engines like Unity or Godot, you typically need to convert the internal images to PNG or BMP sequences.
Alternatively, in industrial automation, an .fpg file is a project file for Flexem FStudio HMI (Human-Machine Interface) panels. These are proprietary binary files containing the interface logic for touch screens and are generally incompatible with any third-party conversion tools; they must be opened with the specific version of FStudio used to create them. A third variation exists as firmware updates for Epson printers; these are often standard ZIP archives renamed to .fpg to prevent user tampering. For these, simply renaming the extension back to zip is often the easiest way to access the internal binary data for archiving or inspection.
