About FLG files

A .FLG file generally acts as a 'flag' to signal a specific state to software or an operating system. For example, Hewlett-Packard (HP) uses .FLG files within their system recovery partitions to indicate upgrade requirements or recovery states. Other systems, such as Puppy Linux or various automated industrial process controllers, use them similarly to orchestrate task execution.

Because the extension simply means 'flag', many developers use it for entirely different purposes. Gamers might encounter .FLG files as game emblem and flag graphics in Pro Evolution Soccer by Konami. Alternatively, the Dark Eden game and BullZip Free Zip Manager use .FLG as a renamed ZIP archive format to store compressed data. Another variant acts as an instrument data log for Hach Company water testing devices.

Users typically struggle with .FLG files because they are highly proprietary, undocumented, and specific to the software that created them. Most system flag files are tiny, often empty, or contain plain text meant only for machine interpretation. Standard applications do not recognize them, leading to frustration when users try to open them out of curiosity or to extract game assets.

True system flag files cannot and should not be converted, as they hold no user media. However, if your file is a Bullzip archive or Dark Eden game data, the ideal target format is ZIP. If it is a Pro Evolution Soccer flag asset, you may want to extract it to a standard PNG or JPG.

Because .FLG is a catch-all extension for unrelated, closed-source formats, traditional online converters will almost always fail to process it. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Our system will inspect the internal hexadecimal structure to determine if it is a simple text file, a standard embedded archive, or a proprietary game asset.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FLG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FIG, PDF, ZIP, PET, ELF and RUN files.
