About FLF files

.FLF files primarily function as either Microsoft Dynamics NAV software license files or FIGlet ASCII art fonts. A smaller percentage are proprietary pressure measurement movies created by Tekscan hardware.

The Dynamics NAV license file contains the permissions and module access rights for an enterprise resource planning (ERP) environment. You can manage these using Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Conversely, FIGlet fonts (sometimes stored as standard ZIP archives) dictate how text is mapped into large ASCII art banners using the open-source FIGlet command-line utility.

Users often attempt to convert .FLF files to inspect their contents, but face severe disadvantages. The NAV license is a proprietary, cryptographically signed file. Editing or converting it to another format like PDF or DOCX will immediately break the signature and invalidate the ERP license. Standard online converters fail because they blindly attempt to process it as standard text or media. FIGlet fonts are similarly niche and lack cross-compatibility with standard web typography, making direct conversion to TTF or OTF impossible without specialized engineering tools.

Instead of traditional conversion, extracting the data is the realistic workaround. For NAV licenses, exporting the license information to TXT or XML via the Dynamics administrative console is the safest target. FIGlet files can be opened natively as TXT to view the character mappings.

Because these are closed or highly specific formats, traditional conversion tools cannot process them. Just drag and drop your file onto convert.guru to identify the format, view its raw data, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects an underlying text structure or embedded metadata, we can extract it safely without corrupting the original file.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FLF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted JFIF, ZUP, FOB and PCLF files.

The FLF Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FLF converter.
