About FH3 files

The .FH3 file extension represents a vector graphics drawing created with Macromedia FreeHand 3, a pioneering illustration program from the early 1990s. FreeHand was widely used by graphic designers for desktop publishing, logo design, and technical illustration. Eventually, Adobe Systems acquired Macromedia and completely discontinued the FreeHand product line.

Today, interacting with an .FH3 file is a major challenge. The format is proprietary, closed-source, and severely outdated. Modern versions of Adobe Illustrator have dropped native import support for these early FreeHand versions. This means you cannot open an .FH3 file on modern operating systems without relying on obsolete software running in virtual machines.
