About FCM files
If you are a crafter or maker, you likely know the .FCM file as the proprietary format for Brother ScanNCut machines. Think of this format as the "print driver" instructions for your cutting machine - it tells the blade exactly where to move on the mat. However, this file type creates a significant bottleneck: it is locked to the Brother ecosystem. You cannot double-click to open it in Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or Inkscape. This makes it difficult to recover lost designs, share patterns with users of other machines (like Cricut or Silhouette), or view your library without logging into the cloud-based CanvasWorkspace.
For design flexibility, the pragmatic solution is converting your .FCM files to standard SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). This unlocks your design for editing in any vector software and ensures future compatibility. Note that while .FCM files contain vector paths, they often lack the layer structure or color data found in the original .CWPRJ working file.
Secondary Use Case: If you are a gamer, an .FCM file might be a renamed ZIP archive used by Football Club Simulator. In this scenario, the file is simply a container for game assets that can often be opened by renaming the extension to ZIP.
Convert.Guru analyzes your FCM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted CWPRJ, SVG, FMC, PNG, JPG, JPEG, PDF, STUDIO3, ZIP, DXF, WEBP, CFM and DOCX files.
The FCM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FCM converter.
