The .FAF extension represents several distinct, unrelated proprietary formats. Most frequently, it acts as a game performance profiler dump created by Ubisoft Rainbow Six Siege. Alternatively, it stores interlock part order data for Fortress Interlocks, draft classes for the Front Office Football simulation game, or 3D laser scanning project files for FARO SCENE. The Forged Alliance Forever (FAForever) modding community also utilizes the .FAF extension for compressed game assets.
These formats share a major disadvantage: they are highly specific and undocumented. A Rainbow Six Siege profiler dump is a proprietary binary log meant strictly for internal developer debugging. It offers zero readability for standard users and cannot be opened in text editors or browsers. Similarly, Fortress Interlocks data is locked to proprietary B2B ordering systems.
Standard online converters will always fail to process .FAF files because no universal standard exists. You cannot reasonably convert a game memory dump into a PDF document or a JPG image. However, FARO SCENE projects and FAForever game files are actually standard ZIP archives under the hood. If you are dealing with these variants, the best practical conversion target is raw extraction, pulling out internal XML configurations or uncompressed asset files.
