About FAF files

The .faf file extension is a filename collision used by four distinct, unrelated software ecosystems, making "conversion" strictly dependent on the source.

  1. Ubisoft Rainbow Six Siege Profiler Dump: These are performance logs created during gameplay to analyze frame rates and system metrics. Users often seek to convert these to TXT or CSV to read the debug data, though they are often proprietary binary blobs readable only by Ubisoft's internal tools.
  2. Fortress Interlocks Order File: Generated by the Fortress Interlocks configuration tool, these files contain part order specifications (safety switches/keys). They are strictly for ordering/manufacturing and act as a "digital receipt" or configuration locking file. They cannot be converted to standard images or documents.
  3. Front Office Football Draft Class: Used by the sports simulation game to store rookie player data. Users often want to convert these to CSV or XLSX to edit player stats in Excel, but the format is a specialized data structure.
  4. Forged Alliance Forever (FAF) Replay: A compressed game recording (often a renamed ZIP) for Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. These contain game command streams (ticks) and Lua data. Advanced users use Python parsers to convert these replays into JSON for match analysis.

Critical Warning: Because these files are application-specific data, you cannot simply "Save As" PDF or JPG. Opening them in a text editor like Notepad++ typically reveals garbled binary code.
