About EZ3 files
The .EZ3 extension represents a frustrating intersection of proprietary data storage and hardware lock-in. Primarily, it functions as a time and attendance data log generated by Easy Clocking biometric hardware. Alternatively, it is widely used as a laser marking project file created by EZCAD3 control software. Opening these files is incredibly restrictive. Easy Clocking data is locked in a proprietary binary format designed solely for communication between physical time clocks and the company dashboard. HR administrators are severely limited, unable to directly extract this raw data into standard payroll systems without paying for specific software modules. Similarly, EZCAD3 files contain machine-specific parameters for 3D laser galvo heads alongside vector graphics. Designers quickly discover they cannot open archived projects on computers that are not physically connected to a compatible laser control board. When dealing with these files, conversion is essential but difficult. For payroll data, the ultimate target formats are CSV or XLSX so you can freely manipulate rows and columns. For laser design files, converting to DXF or SVG is required to recover vector paths for editing in standard tools like Adobe Illustrator. Because this file format is heavily encrypted and proprietary, it is exceptionally difficult to open or convert externally. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data.
