The .ETH file format is primarily a Network Packet Capture Trace generated by AVM FRITZ!Box routers. These files record raw network traffic and telemetry directly from the router's interfaces, allowing system administrators to diagnose connectivity issues, analyze bandwidth usage, or investigate security events. They are typically analyzed using specialized packet sniffers like Wireshark.
The main disadvantage of the .ETH format is its highly specialized, raw binary nature. Native .ETH files cannot be opened in standard text editors or web browsers.
