Convert ETH to another file type
To convert ETH capture files to another format, you need Wireshark or other Data software.
Convert a file to ETH
To convert other file formats to the "Network Trace File" file type, you need software like Wireshark or a similar tool.
About ETH files
The .ETH file format is primarily a Network Packet Capture Trace generated by AVM FRITZ!Box routers. These files record raw network traffic and telemetry directly from the router's interfaces, allowing system administrators to diagnose connectivity issues, analyze bandwidth usage, or investigate security events. They are typically analyzed using specialized packet sniffers like Wireshark.
The main disadvantage of the .ETH format is its highly specialized, raw binary nature. Native .ETH files cannot be opened in standard text editors or web browsers. Furthermore, raw packet captures often exceed hundreds of megabytes rapidly, making them cumbersome to store or share via email. Sharing these files also poses a significant security risk, as the unencrypted payload data might expose passwords, session tokens, or private browsing histories.
To make this data usable across different operating systems and analysis platforms, users frequently need to convert .ETH files to the industry-standard PCAP (Packet Capture) or PCAPNG formats. Alternatively, exporting specific telemetry logs to CSV is ideal for spreadsheet analysis.
Converting these files is difficult because they are generated by proprietary router firmware, and standard online document converters lack the specialized networking parsers required to decode the packet headers. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. convert.guru can inspect the binary structure of your .ETH file, detect the underlying network frames, and help you safely extract readable data or convert it to standardized formats.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ETH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ETH file to TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, PAGES, TEX, LATEX, MD, MARKDOWN, LOG or NFO, you can use Wireshark or similar software from the "Network Packet Capture" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert PDF, DOC, ASC, TODO, NFO, MEMO, README, DOCX, JPG, TXT, NOTE or RTF files to ETH, try Wireshark or another comparable tool in the "Network Packet Capture" category.
The ETH Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ETH converter.
