About ENCR files

An .ENCR file is an internal data flash definition file generated and utilized by the Texas Instruments BQ Evaluation Software (specifically the bqEASY component). These files serve as a mapping dictionary to look up memory addresses for given data-flash locations when configuring and evaluating advanced lithium-ion battery gas gauges.

It is strictly used by Texas Instruments hardware management software and is not meant to be manually opened, read, or edited by an end user.

Users often try to interact with .ENCR files when they encounter 'missing file' errors during hardware calibration, or when attempting to extract the raw 'golden image' profile for a battery gauge. Because the file acts as a closed, proprietary firmware mapping dictionary, it poses a severe disadvantage for developers who want to parse the data: there are no third-party consumer tools available to edit it directly, and the internal data structure is completely undocumented.

Because the data is highly specialized binary information, true conversion to readable target formats like PDF or CSV is impossible without losing the core utility of the file. The best approach is to let the native software handle it, or use the official tool to export the resulting configuration into a DFI (Data Flash Image) file.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because only the original software can properly read, interpret, or export the data. Standard online converters will instantly fail to process it. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ENCR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ENC and HC files.

FAQ

If you want to convert ENCR file to BASE64, HEX, BIN, ENC, CRYPT, AES, DES, RSA, PGP, GPG, ASC or KEY, you can use BQ Evaluation Software or similar software from the "Gas Gauge Configuration Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The ENCR Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ENCR converter.
