About ELP files

The .ELP file extension is primarily associated with eXeLearning (eLearning XHTML editor) and the Edebé Logos platform. These files serve as project containers for creating interactive educational web content, typically storing XML configuration data, text, images, and multimedia resources within a compressed ZIP archive structure.

Users commonly have issues with .ELP files because they are authoring source files, not final distribution formats. A student or end-user cannot simply double-click to view the lesson without installing the specific eXeLearning software. Furthermore, these files may technically be ZIP archives, but proprietary structuring prevents standard browsers from rendering the content correctly. To make the content accessible for web use, LMS integration, or archiving, users must convert .ELP files to HTML (website), SCORM (for Moodle/Blackboard), or PDF (for printing). While standard conversion preserves text and layout, interactive elements like quizzes often require a web-based target format.

Note: A minority of .ELP files may be encrypted Lua scripts for the game Escape from Tarkov or EEG electrode data for BESA Research, which are completely incompatible with educational tools.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ELP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted HLP, XP3 and CRX3 files.

The ELP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ELP converter.
