About EGR files

The .EGR extension is primarily associated with Crestron Engraver software, functioning as a Keypad Engraving Design file. Under the hood, these are often JetDB (Microsoft Access-based) database files that store engraving layouts, fonts, and button configurations for custom AV hardware interfaces. A secondary use is for Mathematical Graph Data files utilized by legacy software like EAGraph and modern open-source digitization tools such as Engauge Digitizer. These files present significant usability challenges. A Crestron .EGR file is highly proprietary, requires specialized AV integrator software to open, and is entirely unreadable by standard vector or graphic design applications like Adobe Illustrator. They also lack embedded visual data, relying instead on the host software's specific font libraries and hardware templates to render the engraving accurately. Standard online converters routinely fail to process them into universal visual formats like PDF or SVG because they cannot parse the closed database structure. Data extraction is typically only possible by using the original software to export the layout or graph points. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. convert.guru can identify the underlying structure (such as the JetDB database), inspect the file, and show internal content. If our analysis detects a supported embedded format, viewing the raw text or conversion to standard tabular formats like CSV may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your EGR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted HIS, EMS and TMI files.

The EGR Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EGR converter.
