About TMI files

A .tmi file typically serves one of several highly specialized functions depending on the software that created it. Most commonly, it acts as a Dental Image Mount Template used by Vatech EzDent-i clinical software to organize patient X-ray films. Alternatively, it functions as a Twinmotion Material Library File or user asset in Epic Games Twinmotion, storing 3D rendering textures and material properties. Less frequently, it contains Dutch public transport schedule data under the KV1/Neptunus standard, or video information for obsolete Samsung mobile phones.

The main disadvantage of the .TMI format is its strictly proprietary and fragmented nature. You cannot open these files natively in Windows or macOS. If you receive a dental mount file, you are forced to use expensive clinical software just to view your own X-rays. Similarly, Twinmotion assets are locked into the Epic Games ecosystem, making it impossible to share materials directly with users of standard 3D software like Blender without tedious manual exporting. The format acts as a locked box that frustrates standard file sharing, interoperability, and long-term archiving.

To break free from these restrictions, conversion is necessary. For dental mounts, convert to PDF or JPG for easy sharing with patients or standardizing medical records. For Twinmotion materials, extracting the underlying PNG or JPG textures and OBJ data is required for cross-platform 3D editing. For KV1 transport data, converting to a standard CSV or JSON allows you to analyze the transit schedules in Excel or Python.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TMI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted JPEG, APKG, IMS, WSS and VMS files.
