Extract text from ECP files

The .ECP extension is a classic example of a "file container" conflict, creating significant confusion because it is used by completely unrelated industries.
Most commonly (approx. 28%), an .ECP file is a Ukrainian Digital Signature (Electronic Digital Signature) container used by government services like Diia or NAIS. These files are encrypted envelopes containing documents and cryptographic keys. The catch here is that standard viewers like Word or Acrobat cannot open them; users are often left holding a file they cannot read or print without installing specific state-mandated software or uploading it to a government portal to "verify" (decrypt) the contents. Users typically need to convert these to PDF to actually read the contract or report inside.
Secondly (approx. 22%), .ECP files serve as job files for Epilog Laser cutters. These files package vector paths, raster settings, and machine instructions for engraving. The problem arises when a designer loses their original AI or CDR file and tries to open the .ECP to edit the design. Since the ECP is compiled for the machine (often effectively a spool file), it is not designed to be edited. Users desperately look for ways to convert this back to DXF, SVG, or PDF to recover their artwork, though success depends heavily on whether the data was stored as vectors or rasterized bitmaps.
Less frequently, .ECP files are associated with WAGO e!COCKPIT automation projects or Ettercap network packet logs. The latter is particularly technical, as security professionals often need to convert these proprietary logs into standard PCAP files to analyze traffic in tools like Wireshark.
