Convert EB to another file type
To convert EB build files to another format, you need SCAPS or other Data software.
Convert a file to EB
To convert other file formats to the "Simulation and Control File" file type, you need software like SCAPS or a similar tool.
About EB files
The .eb file extension primarily represents two distinct, highly specialized formats: Energy Band Simulation Output generated by SCAPS, a solar cell simulation software developed by ELIS-UGent, and DCS Entity Block files used in industrial control systems like Honeywell Experion PKS and Emerson DeltaV.
Both versions of the .eb format suffer from strict vendor lock-in. They are proprietary, requiring expensive, highly specialized software environments to view or modify. Users typically need to convert these files to bypass licensing restrictions or to analyze the data in standard tools. An .eb simulation file often needs to be parsed into CSV or TXT to be graphed in Microsoft Excel or Python. Similarly, DCS entity blocks are usually migrated or audited by exporting the configuration into standard XML or CSV formats.
Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, standard online converters fail to process it. Emphasize that often only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert EB file to TB, PB or BB, you can use SCAPS or similar software from the "Scientific and Industrial Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert files to EB, try SCAPS or another comparable tool in the "Scientific and Industrial Data" category.
The EB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EB converter.
