Convert a file to DSO
To convert other file formats to the "Compiled Game Script" file type, you need software like Torque Game Engine or a similar tool.
About DSO files
The .DSO format is most commonly associated with TorqueScript Compiled Scripts used by the Torque Game Engine. Games like Life is Feudal: Your Own and DarkSpace use these files to store pre-compiled game logic, allowing faster execution than plain text scripts. Additionally, the .DSO extension is used by SAP Business Warehouse for DataStore Objects (often compressed using GZIP) to store consolidated transaction data.
Users face significant hurdles with .DSO files because they are almost exclusively proprietary, closed-format binary files. A compiled TorqueScript cannot be natively edited; it requires the original CS source file. Attempting to open a game-based .DSO script in a text editor yields unreadable hex gibberish. Similarly, SAP .DSO files require heavy enterprise software architectures to read natively.
Modders usually want to convert or decompile .DSO files back to CS (TorqueScript) or TXT to modify game behavior. SAP users often need the data extracted to CSV or XML. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, like a GZIP-compressed SAP file, viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DSO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The DSO Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DSO converter.
