The .DNF file is a proprietary 3D map file created for the video game Duke Nukem Forever. It acts as a container that stores the level's environment, including terrain, 3D building models, weapon spawn points, textures, and interactive scripted events.
These files were originally managed using internal level design tools by 3D Realms and later by Gearbox Software.
Gamers and modders often want to extract the map assets for custom projects or archival. However, the .DNF format is highly proprietary, undocumented, and closed-source.
