About DGR files
The .DGR file extension is primarily associated with BVRP fax images, generated by legacy dial-up modem fax software. However, the format is highly fragmented across completely unrelated industries. It is heavily utilized as a UTF-8 encoded state registration data file by the Russian Federal Tax Service. Alternatively, it functions as an XML-based geomarketing map for GfK Digraph, or a zlib-compressed diagram created by MeeSoft Diagram Designer or TurboCAD.
Users urgently need to convert these files because they are entirely proprietary, heavily obsolete, and restrict data to highly specialized software. A BVRP fax .DGR file cannot be opened on modern operating systems without emulation or obsolete 1990s software. Russian tax data files and proprietary diagrams lock users into specific regional or commercial software ecosystems. As a result, .DGR files are completely unsupported by modern web browsers, smartphones, or standard office suites.
The best conversion targets depend entirely on the file's internal structure. Legacy fax images should be converted to PDF, PNG, or JPG for universal viewing and printing. Vector diagrams are best converted to standard SVG or PDF. Registration data files are safely extracted as raw TXT or standard XML to preserve the internal text.
This file format is incredibly difficult to open or convert because the extension is overloaded. Depending on its origin, a .DGR file might be a raster image, an XML document, or a binary zlib archive. Standard online converters fail because they blindly assume one specific format. Our system analyzes the binary signature of the file, allowing us to inspect the content and bypass the proprietary wrapper. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DGR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert DGR file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use TurboCAD or similar software from the "Fax Image & Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to DGR, try TurboCAD or another comparable tool in the "Fax Image & Data Storage" category.
The DGR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DGR converter.
