About DB1 files

The .DB1 extension represents a specific data storage segment, most frequently associated with Trimble Tekla Structures, a leading BIM (Building Information Modeling) software. In this context, the file serves as a core model database, often containing structural data, geometry, and project metadata compressed via GZIP. Users typically encounter friction here because these files are strictly proprietary and often part of a segmented sequence (e.g., .db1, .db2), meaning an isolated .DB1 file cannot be opened or viewed without the full Tekla environment. To share this data with clients who lack the software, or to analyze it in spreadsheets, conversion is essential.

Alternatively, .DB1 files are commonly renamed SQLite databases. In these cases, the file holds standard relational tables but lacks the default extension, preventing double-click access in database managers. For these files, the best conversion workflow is transforming them into human-readable CSV, Excel (.XLSX), or standard SQL dumps for universal accessibility. Less frequently, this format appears as a game data archive for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, requiring specific unpacking tools to access assets.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DB1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DB2, DB0, DB, DBI, BD1, ZIP, IFC, GZ, EYP, RAR, UDF, PDF and DWG files.

The DB1 Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DB1 converter.
