About DAM files
The .DAM file is a proprietary data container primarily used as a Paperless Recorder Data file by Yokogawa industrial equipment. These files store continuous sensor measurements like temperature, voltage, and pressure recorded by devices such as the DX or FX series. The major disadvantage of the .DAM format is that it is strictly proprietary and locked. It is designed to prevent tampering for compliance and quality assurance reasons. Because of this security, it requires specific software like YOKOGAWA DAQSTANDARD or SmartDAC+ to open, read, or graph the data. Less commonly, the .DAM extension is used for DeltaMaster Analysis Models by Bissantz or files associated with the DAME Project. Users typically need to convert .DAM files to standard formats like .CSV or .XLSX to analyze the data in Microsoft Excel or share it with team members who do not have a Yokogawa software license. This format is notoriously difficult to open or convert because standard online converters fail to parse the proprietary headers and anti-tampering structures. Often, only the original manufacturer software can accurately decrypt and export the raw data. Despite these limits, convert.guru can still help.
