The .CZIP file extension represents multiple distinct formats, most notably Cyberarch ransomware encrypted files, compressed BIM project archives for Trimble Connect, and encrypted archives created by ZipGenius.
The most alarming use of .CZIP is as an encrypted payload from Cyberarch ransomware. If your files were unexpectedly renamed to .CZIP, they are locked using military-grade encryption. Standard conversion tools will fail because the data is scrambled, not just reformatted. Conversely, if you are working in architecture or construction, your .CZIP file is likely a standard ZIP container packing BIM (Building Information Modeling) and IFC models for Trimble Connect. It may also be a satellite receiver firmware update for Openbox devices.
