To convert other file formats to the "Forensic Diagram" file type, you need software like FARO Zone or a similar tool.

About CZD files

A .CZD file is a specialized vector diagram created by The Crash Zone, Crime Zone, or Fire Zone - forensic diagramming software originally developed by The CAD Zone (acquired by FARO Technologies). These files are standard in law enforcement and insurance for reconstructing accident scenes, crime scenes, and fire layouts.

The Problem: Proprietary Lock-In

Because .CZD files are proprietary vector formats, they cannot be opened by standard image viewers, web browsers, or generic CAD tools like AutoCAD. Users often receive these files from investigators but lack the expensive ($1,000+) legacy software required to view them. This creates a significant bottleneck when sharing evidence or archiving reports.

The Solution: Practical Conversion

To make these diagrams accessible, they must be converted into standard formats:

Convert.Guru analyzes your CZD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CDZ, PAINT, DRAW and VC6 files.

The CZD Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CZD converter.
