About CW files
A .CW file is most frequently a proprietary project file created by AMS Business Card Maker, a Windows application for designing corporate identity cards. These files contain layout data - text layers, logos, color schemes, and vector shapes - rather than a flat image. The key problem for users is that .CW files are not standard image formats; you cannot upload them to a print shop or attach them to an email for viewing without the original AMS software installed. To use these designs practically, they must be converted to universal formats like PDF (for high-quality printing), JPG, or PNG (for digital sharing).
Alternatively, a .CW file may be a game world map used by Cube World, an open-world voxel RPG developed by Picroma. These files (often world.cw) store terrain data, seed information, and player progress. They are frequently GZIP compressed, making them unreadable to standard text editors. While less common, .CW extensions also appear in ClassiCube (a Minecraft Classic clone) and as templates for CardWorks by NCH Software. For game files, direct conversion is rare; users typically edit them with specific save editors or hex tools.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted JPG, WD3, TDK and ML20 files.
The CW Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CW converter.
